First Warning: I am not going to get all hung up on grammar. There is a time and a place for that, and this blog is neither.
Second Warning: I swear. No, not like that sappy 90’s love song, or like taking an oath. I mean like saying “shit” a lot. I’m not here to censor myself (or anyone else for that matter), so you might not want to share this blog with the kiddies.
Third Warning: When I watch Dr. Phil (which isn’t very often), I can tell you what he is going to say to his guest(s) within the first ten minutes. That said, I am very blunt, and realistic about my fat. This blog will be loaded with compassion and understanding, and not a whole lot of excuses.
Fourth Warning: In real life, I am usually quite upbeat and positive. I will do my best to remain this way here, though I cannot guarantee anything, because as you will see, I am working through a lot of shit from a lot of years, and it is what it is.
Fifth Warning: I love Jesus. I am not one of those “shove my beliefs down your throat” kinds of Christians, so don’t worry, I’m not about to impose on anybody’s belief system. In fact, I have friends and loved ones of many faiths (and no faith at all), so it’s all good. I’m just giving this warning because I am going to give God the credit for all that is good, and for helping me through all that is sucky. He knows my heart, and He is good, and He is faithful.
Sixth Warning: Music is a huge part of who I am, and a huge part of my recovery. I will be mentioning “Theme Songs” and quoting movies and old SNL sketches (because the new ones pretty much SUCK) and whatnot.
Final Warning (for now): I have a few favorite phrases that I will repeat. These are, including but not limited to:
Including but not limited to
It’s gonna be great
It is what it is
That’s the bottom line
You have been warned.
My current theme song is “Pork and Beans” by Weezer. This song is relevant to my recovery because it’s all about not bowing down to what society or anyone else expects of me. God has a perfect will for my life, and aside from that, each and every day I lose interest in what people think I should look like, act like, and be like. I’ll get into the “how I got like that in the first place” later. In the meantime, this song is amazing, this band is incredible, and the video is fabulous.
Enjoy.
